What we are looking for:
indiGO Auto Group is seeking a full-time Director of Compliance & Risk Advisory to join our growing team based in Houston, reporting directly to the CFO. This role will support the indiGO executive team in establishing a strong operational and financial internal control structure and dealership level control environment to support current and future growth. Here is what an ordinary day of work may look like:
- Proactively assess regulatory, operational, financial, and reputational risks and implement systems, policies, and controls to mitigate them.
- Lead the indiGO Compliance Task Force to drive awareness and alignment on compliance-related issues across the organization.
- Coordinate with the Pon Ethics and Compliance Team as needed to maintain alignment with broader corporate standards.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive risk assessment and internal audit strategy to ensure compliance with industry regulations, financial policies, and internal controls.
- Schedule and conduct internal audits or assessments (operational, financial, and compliance) based on risk priorities.
- Report findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership and oversee timely implementation of remediation plans.
- Design, document, and enhance internal controls that align with company growth and risk mitigation goals.
- Monitor and improve internal controls continuously, integrating technology solutions and collaborating with finance, operations, and IT as needed.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and corporate governance best practices.
- Build strong relationships with dealership general managers, finance/operations teams, and executive leadership to foster a culture of compliance.
- Lead stakeholder workshops and provide training sessions to educate teams on compliance and risk management best practices.
- Align audit and risk management initiatives with the company’s three-year growth strategy, ensuring scalability and relevance.
- Support dealership acquisitions by conducting pre- and post-transaction risk assessments, ensuring compliance processes are integrated within 90 days of acquisition.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency in financial and operational processes.
- Develop a department growth roadmap, including identifying new roles and justifying headcount as the company scales.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead audit/compliance team members, including participants in the accounting graduate program.
- Under the CFO’s guidance, engage external consultants or interim auditors when needed to meet audit demands.
- Prepare and manage budgets for tools, personnel, and resources necessary for department success.
- Integrate AI-driven data analytics to enhance future audit and fraud detection capabilities.
The opportunity is for you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; CPA, CIA, or CISA certification required.
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance, preferably in the automotive, retail, or multi-unit industry.
- Thorough understanding of industry specific laws (i.e., federal and state specific laws focused on consumer protection, fair lending practices, data privacy, workplace safety) and demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and operational integrity.
- Deep knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk management methodologies, and audit best practices.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with ERP/DMS systems (e.g., HFM, Tekion, CDK, or similar dealership management systems).
- Proven ability to build relationships with executive leadership and operational teams.
- Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
- Adept at queries, writing reports, and making presentations.
- Extremely organized with dedicated attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and a clear focus on delivering work of the highest quality.
- Domestic and international travel required.
- Willing to submit to a drug test and criminal background check.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
